Town Registrar

A member of Billerica's Board of Registrars of Voters, which keeps the voting list, registers voters, certifies nomination papers and conducts recounts. Massachusetts towns created these boards in 1884: three members appointed by the Selectmen for staggered three-year terms, with the Town Clerk serving as a fourth member ex officio and as clerk of the board. Town Clerks are listed under that position rather than here. Before 1884 the Town Clerk alone kept the voting lists and also served as registrar of births, marriages and deaths.
